In this current season of results, this article is of great relevance for all the students.
Mark Twain said “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education”. This one line has a lot to say. School, examinations, marks do not constitute education or knowledge. You can’t judge anyone’s knowledge just on the basis of 3 hours. During those 3 hours, the person might be suffering from mental dilemma, anxiety, pressure etc . The present examination system is based on cramming and passing the examination has become more a matter of chance than that of ability. Again, the present system of examination promotes other evils such as copying and even corruption.
The violent accidents in the examination halls strengthen this claim. Even today we are told that a third-year student in one of the centers in Delhi gave a sound beating to an invigilator, who objected that the candidate should not copy. The pity of the incident is that a police constable was in league with that candidate and he brought the material for him to be copied. Again, how can the ability of a student be checked by a few questions? The answer to it is certainly in negative. The fact is that:
Knowledge is always constructed not transferred.
In-fact schooling and examinations are a very indispensable part of life, but not life itself. To get depressed by the results and give up isn’t a solution. Have faith in yourself and remember all the dreams come true, if we have the courage to pursue them, irrespective of our situations.
