Robotics – A collaboration of mechanical engineering, computer science engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering. This deals with designing of robots for many tasks. People always have a query what a robotic engineer will do or learn. Now let’s see what she/he learns in their engineering. They have to learn how to build a robot which is the basics of mechanical engineering so specific subjects in mechanical engineering will be a part. The mechanical part should work in a controlled manner , for that electrical circuits and connection are to be made. So these will be covered in the electrical subjects. The robot has to do predetermined task which will be coded in any machine language(Robotic languages are also available) which will be from computer science engineering. The work of robotic engineering is wider in range where some work in designing the robot for some specific purpose. Speaking in general about the designing a robot usually common people assume robots in the form of humans as they view in movies. But , actually there are many kinds of robots which will not look like humans but will do the required task. Those are machines which need to complete the task. The robots which they show in movies are called “humanoid robots” which is one type of robot. That is the advanced robot in the robot types. Many serve in the field of computing advanced programs for robots to do more than one job. Their job will be combining more programs together to make the robot perform various functions which is more time efficient. The next promising field of work is repairing old malfunctioned robots and modelling new robots by combining old robots which is economical for the industry because manufacturing a robot will take more money and time.
So the scope of robotics is promising. The future for robotics is wide and with more opportunities. The areas where robots involved are jobs which make humans tired like repeating the same task again and again. For example rotating any machine’s handle of pulley for all day will make them bored and unproductive. The jobs such as picking and placing manufactured goods mostly in the food industries, packing the goods. The areas where human life are endangered while working such as nuclear power plant, mines, nuclear industries, handling of radioactive materials. The main and foremost area where the humans have to be replaced by robots are cleaning of toilets and drainages. In India humans are the one who clean the toilets and drainages which should be changed and robots have to be substituted instead of humans cleaning toilets which is non-advisable for them to do. As we see by this the future of robotics is much more promising and there will be demand for basic robots which will do specified works for 24*7 and will not get tired. The chances of errors is also very less. In the increasing demand for manual workers ,robots will occupy all the jobs soon which is also a bright scope for robotic industry , robotic engineer and also for the society which will be out of the problem of non -availability of labours. So for students who are desirable for engineering “Robotics” filed as a choice will pave a path to their better carrier.
The course is provided in India as UG degree “Robotics and Automation Engineering” in Tamilnadu, at PSG college of technology, PG degree in IITs in India.
