“To be in your child’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their life today.”
An entirely appropriate quotation sums up the entire idea that in today’s world, parents are so busy achieving their career/goals that they often tend to neglect their child’s growth. To enable their child to get a degree from a reputed college is what they aim for their child and in this process they fail to inculcate moral principles in their child which otherwise would have been there, if decent care and guidance were given to them on their part.
Such failure on the parts of their responsibility towards child can be clearly seen by increasing boarding schools, increase in demand for home tutors and increase in number of juvenile crime since the past decade. Parents often say that in pursuit to achieve goals, one has to sacrifice their time devotion to their children and hence they tend to take up home tutorial services or any other services that they think would help them in imparting knowledge to their child. However, one must not forget that by availing to such services, they are merely imparting knowledge of certain areas to their child and not education.
Knowledge is merely knowing of certain facts. On the other hand Education implies overall development of a person which includes the quality of knowing things, skills, values, beliefs and habits of a group of people that are transferred to other people, through storytelling, discussion, teaching, training or research. Hence, such education can only be received by children through their parents and not by some tutorial services.
